All about Ekibio’s foundation

Created by Didier Perréol, Ekibio’s founding Chairman, Ekibio’s Foundation fights for organic, local, seasonal and vegetable-based diets. We aim at raising awareness among citizens about the role of food in health and the impact of food production on environmental protection. We also promote values of goodwill between producers and consumers, and the importance of healthy food being accessible to everyone.

Our daily diet - at home, in canteens, in collective catering, at festive gatherings - is key to improving the world. Ekibio’s Foundation aims to improve diversity in our diets via practices such as short supply chains, agroecological practices, developing plant proteins and reducing meat consumption. We act directly through our own initiatives and by supporting other projects. Our goal is to help citizens become responsible consumers - from the earliest age possible and regardless of their background.

The Board

The Foundation includes two founding members, Didier Perréol (founder and Chairman of Ekibio) and Richard Madignier (Treasurer), staff representatives and external specialists. They are all chosen for their motivation and qualities.

A note from the Chairman

« The aim of Ekibio’s Foundation is to raise awareness about food quality. We hope to bring people together around a universal theme and convey important values. It is time to realize that we need to change how we produce and consume food. A healthy, organic diet has become essential, especially during the pandemic. Overweight and diabetic people represent a high proportion of corona virus victims - a tragic reminder of the importance of nutrition in health and prevention. Our goal is to convey a strong and genuine message to encourage the general public and promote experience-sharing and education. Nature is an extremely diverse and rich source of food. We want to make it available to the youngest members of our population, and most importantly, to the largest number of people possible. »

My role as a member of the Board for the Foundation is to express my opinion on the different requests for funding from participatory projects and to make sure these projects are in line with the foundation’s values. I also volunteer my time to help the other members of the foundation to organise events, such as la Bio dans les Etoiles (Organic Food in the Stars), and help out on D day.

I have been a member of the of Ekibio’s Foundation since 2015. I have a role to play in choosing the projects we support, and making sure they are in line with the Foundation’s values and goals. I also take part in la Bio dans les Etoiles (Organic Food in the Stars) event every year with Ekibio’s team, who pulls out all the stops to offer opportunities for discussion, presentations and very interesting debates about an organic, healthy, eco-friendly, local and solidarity-based diet.

 

Discover La Bio dans les Etoiles

Every year Ekibio’s Foundation organises a major ecological event: Bio dans les Etoiles. which is a free event, open to everyone, that raises awareness in the general public to develop new food practices. It is held in Annonay in the French department of Ardèche.
